Water treatment models and alternatives

In a bid to make water quality to the accepted standard, some have used or are contemplating using some of the methods listed below. However, each method has its on demerits too:

1.Boiling : This is the most prominent of all models. This usually involves heating the water to a very high temperature to kill bacteria and contaminants. However, boiling water to purify it is not a good idea. For one thing, boiling has failed to kill some bacteria that survive even in very high temperatures. Therefore the survive the heating process. It does not remove chlorine and some of its by-products. Boiling also make the water mineral free and thus acidic which makes it dangerous for drinking

2. Filtration: This involves using a filter medium that blocks the passage of contaminants. Materials used as filter mediums are usually made up of carbon to remove more and more contaminants through the chemical process of absorption. Water filter is effective since it filters far more contaminants and chlorine and other chemicals from drinking water. However, depends on taking all the formal steps involved in the process. The type of filtration discussed here is not our usual filtration of using a cloth to pour the water over. This type is very ineffective.
There are other methods like distillation, Reverse Osmosis, etc Howver most of these method fail to make the water alkaline. They simply remove the contaminats, but we need to change our drinking water from acidic to alkaline. How do we know if our water is acidic of alkaline? You need to test it
